Hong Kong Day 2: One dimsum.

Woke up hungry. T.T

I am someone who needs to eat sth when i wake up. Either i drink milk or i eat sth else i cant function.
Way too hungry when XX and i were awake, we ventured out for breakfast before i die of starvation.

Headed to the mini restaurant local go. No reviews. No nth. Its just a normal looking restaurant with no fanciful uniforms or nicely done up renovations and an v oily food. LOL. HAHAH.

 photo P2237501_zpse69cb35e.jpg

But that would mean, food is very cheap too. Is it just me. i find it v difficult to find meals in hkg that cost under $3. LOL. Or its just rated restaurants that cost the expensive meals served?
 photo P2237500_zpsa314cb09.jpg

Bet most of you nv eat this before! Its fried dough fritters with steam rich rolls tgt. Just for a novelty try. Took one and gave everything to XX. HAHAHA.
 photo P2237502_zps6cd0121e.jpg

Hong Kong Style Congee. Its called Sampan congee. My ex-colleagues told me to try this hkg style porridge. Well. i bet you wont eat such combination of congee before. It has minced pork, lean meat, peanut, cuttlefish (!!!!!!), fried rice crackers etc etc. Its really kind of unique. Sth you dont get to try in singapore. Its called 艇仔粥. Give it a try the next time you are in hongkong.

Oh, this random shop i went to serve v nice congee. In fact, its nicer than the previous 2 rated congee that i tried. Reviews are not always trustworthy. Just take a look at my Taiwan trip. T.T Those reviews were not to my liking at all.

Sometimes being adventurous, you find a treasure box.
 photo P2237505_zps85bacf8b.jpg

Walked pass a market and was v amused. Truth is, i cannot stand sellers selling pork in the opening like that. Its winter time now, so its not that hot. Imagine its June, during their summer. Temperature rise up to 33 degrees. And the pork is sun-basked for the entire morning under such conditions. I can so imagine the amt of bacteria in it. LOL. -irritating flies flying around-

If this is China, i can still accept it. But, this is Hong Kong.

DO YOU KNOW THE FISH IS JUMPING UP AND DOWN. lol. Its that fresh.
 photo P2237496_zps0d8f65d7.jpg

Grandma says, "a fish with blood is fresh."
 photo P2237497_zpsd228ae57.jpg

Overall, I think their market is in a very bad condition. LOL.
Not very hygienic leh.

Went back hotel and meet the rest!

 photo P2237510_zpsb67ab02b.jpg

No longer looking at brunch in awe. cause i successfully made my own hollandaise sauce. sinful indeed. But its really v nice. I shall not remind myself of cholesterol.
 photo brunch1_zps1e90cfc4.jpg

Headed off for crumbs!! WOOTZ. good for your digestive systems! Abt $6 sgd a cup. But its really v nice. HAHA
 photo P2237519_zps7d8d7344.jpg

and full of fruits as add on! strawberry, blueberry, raspberry. and the in house famous cookie crumbs!
Heaven is within reach.
 photo P2237522_zps4b9a6a2a.jpg

Evidence to show i am scared of cold. LOL.
 photo P2237520_zps8667fe1c.jpg

I made my XX a mad man. LOL.
 photo P2237526_zpsc1d85369.jpg

I KNOW YOU ARE JEALOUS OF MY GIRLFRIENDS. hahaha. Go overseas w a grp of girlfriends is honestly v fun. the joy is, we only know each other in the yr 2012. LOL.
 photo hkg7_zps6f58881d.jpg

Pls give this a try in Hong Kong!
Hui Lau Shan is very famous for mango related desserts.
Its also abt $7. There is hardly anything cheap in hkg, sadly.
 photo P2237529_zpsdbd46d0c.jpg

But this is good stuff.
 photo P2237531_zpsa14daf03.jpg

One dimsum. XX always wanted to come there to give this a try from so many reviews and recommendations. Even though my stomach really isnt very happy abt the 1 hour wait. LOL.

Like the crazily raved Tim ho wan, One dimsum is also a one michelin star rated restaurant with v affordable prices for the public.
 photo P2237542_zps7322b5f3.jpg

Overall. Both standard are comparable. But i prefer One dimsum over Tim ho wan. Simply because I prefer the siew mai that is heavily seafood prawn aftertaste. IMO, Tim ho wan has a more porky siew mai aftertaste. LOL.

Oh, the carrot cake is really god like too. I am v particular of my carrot cake. This version pass. LOL.
And they serve crazy amt of stream rice rolls for a serving. OMG.

And the very unique fried egg thingy. Its honey coated and one of the v rare fried food i actually like. Probably because i nv tried anything like this before.

Dont order the chestnut cake. its so jelat, i wanna vomit. LOL.

I didnt get to try the famous char siew polo cause its sold out. T.T

Total bill is abt $20 Sgd.(: wee!
I left with a very happy stomach. HAHA.

hong kong entry. dim sum place.

celine from closetouttaspace told me to visit this dim sum place when i was in hkg
did a review with them before!! here!

its called,
Photobucket
honestly, its not for the faint hearted to go.
and i don think its worth the time to go! just go chao inn. all of us reach a consensus that, MIGHT AS WELL GO CHAO INN MAN than to come here.

not that is not nice. it just wasnt worth the time to queue for an hour!
when, the standard and pricing is more or less the same as chao inn..

seriously, just go CHAO INN la.
its atas, available almost everywhere!!! not super ex too. but alot of nice dim sums!!

back to this dim sum restaurant.
the first time we went there, probably 1030am? its opens at 10am.

there was a crowd. a crowd of 15 odd ppl buzzing outside the restaurant.
Janice went and ask, the waiting time was a ridiculous 2 hours.

wah seh. obviously and naturally. we walked off.
although we had ample time to tour around hkg, waiting for 2 hours for brunch is no joke. LOL.
we must be crazy if we were to wait for 2 hours lor.

the second time we went there. 10am.
the queue was like 20 m long? like, 50 ppl ahead of you.

WAH LAO. sian max.
want to eat dim sum also sooooooooooooooooooo difficult.

obviously. i am damn pissed.
i don know what is so nice about this dim sum that soooooooooooooooooooo many ppl is queuing for it. LOL.

SO WE ARE DETERMINED TO RETURN THERE THE FOLLOWING DAY.
die die die, DIEEEEEEEEEEE also want to eat.

hence, we went there the third time.
we reach there 910 am in the morning. 50 mins ahead of the opening hours. 0.O
in case you are wondering if that is way too crazy.
there are like 6/7 ppl ahead of us alr. LOL!!!

HA! and, you must take into consideration that, some ppl queue first, the rest of the group arrive ltr. LOL!!

but in the end, i realise the queue was so insanely long was because, the restaurant is rather small. can only seat 30 ppl MAX at one go. 0.O

50 mins is a long waiting time. hungry much, xx and jason went to hunt for food. LOL!

which left the 3 of us to play with the camera.

trying to show how big cy chest is. LOL!!! but i think it contrast our skin tones more!
Photobucket

some stupid things i always do with cy. LOL!!
Photobucket

what it is said in the article makes sense. to eat heavenly food. you need to have patience . thats the queue at 940-950am?
Photobucket
now you know why we only managed to eat it at the third time? LOL!!

this photo so nice!
Photobucket

all right! then it was 10am!!

woohoo!! and we went in!!
THE FIRST THING EVERY SINGLE ONE DID WAS TO TAKE OUT THEIR CAMERAS AND TAKE PHOTOS.

i am so amused by it. more often than not, i am the only one taking photos.
HAHA!!

so you know how special this restaurant is a not. its definitely not easy to get a seat here!! like, a once in a lifetime thing. LOLsssssssss. so it became a massive photo taking session.

hence everyone started taking photos. 0.O HAHA.

certificates.
Photobucket

things we ordered.
Photobucket
excluding 2 take aways that was not shown here.
in case you are wondering, more often than not, we are the table with the most no of food.

because there is 5 of us. there is one poor thing fellow who shared table with us.
we have SO SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much food, there is hardly any ANY space for him to put his food. LOLssssss.

*in hurry mood to stack all the dim sum up. clear plates for space*

fret not, you can re-order the items you want, despite the crowd. (:

just order WHEN you are eating your food. NOT AFTER you finish your entire table of food.
else they give you black face. cause the queue outside is very long.
thats what we did. oops. in the end, we too pai seh, decided wait outside the restaurant for their take away instead.

and i think, everyone needs to be seated by 12pm for the morning session. then they close shop for the afternoon batch. LOL!
