Here's sth to share!

Made these goodies the last weekend, meant to be placed on my future wedding reception table.

Paper flowers and vellum words from Maggie Holmes Open Book collection. Its so pretty!
And of course, 3D flowers from Bangkok. I have a crazy collection of flowers that i could start a shop or sth.

I bought the white victorian frame from Diaso Japan. Its only 108 yen, which is about 1.20 SGD in Singapore.

I wanted to buy more, but i chance upon it while walking around. I tried to search for it around the shop, but i couldnt find any more. Oh wells.


Not sure how many of you reading this is aware i am engaged. HAHAHA.
My XX popped the question when i was Japan. And i did an album to celebration the occasion.

Oh yes, paper flowers from Maggie Holmes Open book collection as well. I really love her collection so much!

The collection is sold out in Singapore. I am waiting for Mapletreehouse to stock it. Else i will buy from Amazon. I monitor the stocks from Amazon everyday!

Its my favourite album so far. (Nth surprising!)
And its pinkish. To ensure that my mini album can tahan "torture" from my guest flipping my book, i used thick chipboard as my boning pages.

A pc of paper was glued at the side to link the pages tgt. Perhaps i will do a tutorial next time. It didnt have key chain rings at the side and you are still able to flip the pages. HAHA.


Yay. It should be solid and hard enough to withstand the constant flipping of pages. Yes, even the sides are washi-ed pink. HAHAHA.

Handmade Carousel

CAROUSEL!!!!

I always wanted to make a carousel. I saw it an #alteredproject post on Pinterest and decided to make one myself!

I took ideas and inspiration from everywhere.

You guys may wish to go and take a look at Pinterest! Lots of amazing stuff there.

Thank god for ppl like them, i can have my own carousel!

However, i made the following changes:

1. I make mine using chipboard (electrical appliance boxes) so that my carousel will be more sturdy and i am able to add alot of nonsense to it. HAHA.

2. I did a 9" base carousel.

3. My carousel is ROTATABLE. (YAY!!!!!) I was ecstatic when i finally found a plate that spins at daiso!!!!

But I forget to take a picture of the plate. T.T
If you are interested, you may ask the staff if they have the "seasoning plate" or anything that is flat which can rotate!

As usual, i went overboard with my flowers. Now you know why i bought so much flowers form bkk! HAHA.

I love flowers and butterflies. Oh so lovely.

And i love pearls!

I hate school - Thats a known fact.

And XX cant wait to get out of NUS after doing FYP. I think FYP just make everyone hates school. HAHAHA.


However, i am grateful for NUS though. That's how i met XX! Thats the happiest thing that can happen to the both of us. Awwww. HAHA.

I dont think i can make it without him. Sadly and thankfully.

In any case, graduation is the second happiest thing that can happen to both of us!

Honestly, working is better than studying. At least for me! My brain is not meant for studying. HAHAHA. Unless there is a course on scrapbooking. 

 Anyway, love the photos i used for my carousel. XX managed to escape from reservist at the very last minute to attend my commencement. I got a shock of my life when i saw him. HAHAHA. I am thankful for god that day. HAHA.

And i attended his commencement one year ltr.

Did a photoshoot with AndroidsinBoots when i graduated. That's my 3rd yr anniversary present to XX.

And then we had another graduation photoshoot with Avenue 8 tgt with my friends.

Printed all my favourite photos taken to celebrate our graduation!

I look back at our graduation with a smile. Its a milestone for the both of us! (:
Its such a happy occasion! It goes well with the carousel.

Winda's wedding gift.

Hi, sharing on my blog one of my favourite layouts to date!
But, i am looking for ways to improve on the design! HAHA.

It used to be my mama’s favourite, until I made the Carousel. Will share the carousel the next time round!
I enjoy making alter projects a lot. Its more 3D. ROFL.

Scrapbooking tends to be a little “flat”, even though i know my style is nothing close to that.
I enjoy making my stuff pop out for the “wah” visual effect. In fact, it seems a little chim for me to make things flat. I am very comfortable with my current style and doesn’t fee like changing it.

I wanted to try to do Project Life, but the layout of everything-has-to-be-flat-else-cannot-put-inside-the-pockets kinds of turn me off. Besides, it will take a lot a lot of determination to perseverance to complete 52 weeks of #PL. Perhaps one day, when I have a baby, I will start on #PL so that I can document all the little things/grow ups and look back w a smile. But that’s many yrs ltr. HAHAHAHA. #worrylater

I love wedding theme projects because they serve as ideas for my future wedding! Since I did it, I will be able to recreate it fast or improve further on the layout/design in time to come. I can foresee myself being v busy with all the preparation and I don have I have the luxury to think of new scrapbooking ideas/layouts for my wedding. HAHAHAHAH.

Front cover: Make a guess what the theme is. If you managed to guess it then I have succeeded. HAHA. Else, I will still continue to jiayou. ROFL.

The groom’s suit is a sticker from Taobao.
The wedding gown is made from my old lace top. I cut the bride's hanger silhouette using #cameosilhouette.
The felt “喜” is from a random shop in Beijing. HAHAHA.


Its a challenge to able to make my projects flat. HAHA.
Anyway, use 2 pcs of A4 sized chipboard and tape them securely at the side to make it into a book.

I kept the box that was used to put my juicer and reuse it for my current project. HAHAHA. called that #recycle #practise3Rs

My mama has been really encouraging though. She will keep a lookout for boxes for me at the bin collection area so that i can have chipboard for my #alteredprojects HAHA.

I was actually inspired a project i saw at PaperMarket. So i went home and work on the idea i have in my head. I have written their wedding vows down for memory sake.

"Mr and Mrs" and the "Once in a life event" stamps are Kaisercraft; "He and She Wedding" clear stamp set. The set can be found here! 

The swirly script black words background is a clear stamp by Heidi Swapp, perfect for background work!

While its not v obvious here, but i used gesso over my stencil to create a more in depth look in the background. Not a pro with stencils yet,but i will work harder. HAHA. i think its pretty fun. You will need one day to dry your gesso though!

As usual, i cut "Our wedding 190714" using #cameosilhouette
The quote stamp is from Kaisercraft as well. Comes tgt in a set.
Use ribbons/pearls/punch cut outs and sew them tgt in a line to create a banner across!

And the secret to make it pop up? See the rectangle where i stick the "Once in a lifetime event" cut out?
Thats the secret to making it 3D.

Simple!
1. Take a pc of paper and cut 2 (1 inch thick, 25 cm long rectangle).
2. Use washi tape to cover the white paper.
3. Join the pcs of paper tgt to make it into a rectangle. Stick into the board.

TADAH.


Btw, 190714 is my birthday. And since its Winda's wedding day as well, it must be a huat and auspicious day! HOORAY!

Why Cameo Silhouette is awesome

Hmm, in case anyone didnt know, i bought an electronic cutting machine in February 2014.
Well, 2 reasons for that.


1. I wanted a scrapbooking machine for eons. (In fact, ever since i start working)
2. It was a gift for myself after working hard for in my current job for one year. (I don know how I stay for a yr, but i managed to, somehow)

The decision: Big shot OR Cameo Silhouette.

I have thought long and hard which one to buy.

I gave it a thought for a very longgggggg time. I have a tendency to think and ponder on a particular item before i buy it, especially when it doesnt come cheap.

Before i know abt Cameo Silhouette, i have been thinking if i should buy a Big shot. The effects are so pretty~!! The embossing effect or the fast die cut result.

Dies = Shapes you will get after gg through the Big shot. It can cut all kinds of thick material. Many pcs of Paper, cardstock, felt, Cloth, plastic, vinyl, metal (!!!!) almost anythinggggg. Thats why its an amazing machine. The dies roll through the machine which puts pressure on them to cut or emboss the paper. I know its kind of hard to visualize how a pc of punch cuts can come out cut by just rolling through it. But ya, it works that way.

There is a downside to this. Dies are very expensive. And i mean it.

VERY EXPENSIVE. I know i will be bored with my dies shortly after. You will always cut the same thing with the same die. I know i will get bored.

Each die cost abt $30 during sales? And i will need many dies to cut different shapes.

So i started to look for forums; To see if i am able to sell them off when i don like them anymore, and make way for new ones. Or see if anyone is letting go pre-loved dies at a cheaper price.

Its kind of difficult to keep buying dies without feeling painful for my wallet. Thats why i hesitated. Else i would have bought my dream machine long ago.

But there is no such thing. So i never buy the Big shot. Cause i know i wont be able to sustain it.
Brush off that thought.

I told all my concerns to Janice, my fellow scrapper.
She introduced me to this #amazeballs machine called the Cameo Silhouette.

Cameo Silhouette - An electronic cutting machine. Basically, you use the software and tell the machine to cut.

However, there is a huge price difference.

Currently, only maple tree house sells them in Singapore. A Cameo Silhouette cost $398:  http://www.mapletreehouse.com/webshaper/store/viewProd.asp?pkProductItem=24756

However, a big shot cost about $200 with a few basic dies for you to start with. The starting cost is DOUBLE. However, I feel that a Cameo Silhouette allows you to do ALOT ALOT more things.

1. While you cant cut all sorts of materials, its a more personalised machine; You can create and cut words to suit your project. Eg, Ask the mahcine to cut the words veronica eng. LOL. oh, in any fonts you like too!

2. You can cut shapes in the dimension you want; Big or small, you call the shots.

3. Not only that, you can literally find ANY image online and ask the machine to trace it and cut it for you. (you will need a printer for that)

I cut all these using Cameo Silhouette!


4. There are lots and lots of free traced images online (Pinterest is your best friend. I can spend hours pinning articles and finding inspiration)

5. You can cut VERY intricate images. A big shot cant do that! Look at all the fine lines!

6. The fact that you can cut literally any images give you more room for imagination on how you can do your project. You can even do 3D stuff!


BUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUTBUT.

There are also downsides to it.

1. Being an electronic tool, it can get really cranky. Sometimes, that stupid machine may not work or uds your commands. (i am sure you experienced some crankiness with your laptop/printer (whatever electronics) before) So yup, there would be times where you feel like throwing your cameo. (I hope that day wont come!)

2. You have to on the laptop and machine, launch the software. Find the pictures to cut (unless you have saved them beforehand alr); It will take up more time.

A big shot is so simple!!! take the die, roll though the machine and TADAH! 10s job. LOL.

3. It will definitely not last forever. Afterall its an electronic! (I give it a lifespan of 3 yrs. I hope. I have a reputation of an electronic destroyer. LOL. But i have reviews that some have used it for 4 yrs alr!) It is likely that a big shot will last forever though. I really cannot see how a big shot will be damaged. LOL. HAHAHAHA.

After weighing the cons, I still love my cameo silhouette.
For the flexibility and the fact that i can cut literally anything. I just hope i wont destroy it that fast. HAHA.

Okay, let me convince you how awesome a cameo silhouette can be.

Did my first project using the cameo silhouette! I call it practice session for my future wedding projects. HAHA.

A clock that i bought from Malaysia when i was there to attend my bro's wedding. How apt! I bought this bicycle for yingtian sis's wedding, since her theme is on sports/bicycle. HAHA.

It also consist of a mini album to showcase 3 of her favourite wedding photos.


Its also my first altered project (clock) as well! I am in love with pearls, embellishments, flowers and butterflies. So i have a tendency to make my project like a garden. LOL.

Very flowery indeed. Totally my style. HAHA.


I didnt like the clock to be black in colour, cause it looked so gloomy and inauspicious for a wedding gift. So i used ribbons and spent 2 hours trying to "change the colour". HAHAHA.

I used cloth tape for the wheels!

P/s The clock is functional. Even though my mama commented, your clock cannot see the time!! ROFL. And, i absolutely adore the ceramic wedding bears!


The mini album. I used chipboard cause its a sturdy material to hold all my embellishments. I joined the 4 layouts tgt with a big ring camouflaged by ribbons. HAHA.


I used cameo silhouette to cut out the wedding gate as well as the words, "The special day 100514". (thats sis's wedding date)

Called that personalisation with cameo silhouette!

Used Cameo Silhouette to cut out a bicycle to fit her theme. Thats a quote she wrote on IG on relationship. HAHA.


I got this idea from pinterest, and thought its very cool. HAHAHA. So i tried to do one myself!


A sequin pocket filled a happy colours (yes, i got a sewing machine as well)


Sis created this as a door gift; Race tag invitation magnets. I printed it out and add it to the album!


"The best day ever" is cut using Cameo Silhouette. HAHAHA.


And yes, the words " OO wedding day" as well. (Dont you love the wedding bears!!)
