XX is quarter century old.

like nth new, i am here to blog abt my XX's birthday celebration that is one month ago.

i am resting at home, after a vomiting + light diarrhea + bad cough ordeal.
le sigh, i nv vomit before, at least in my memory. (i only vomiting once in primary school. but i cant rmb how it feels like cause it was so anciently long ago)

and vomiting sucks big time. food is meant to be swallowed down to the stomach, not the other way round.
i am glad my vomiting stopped.

i very hero leh. i vomit 6 times. (all my lunch contents are out) i have slight runs and i have a very bad cough. my friends and bro wanted me to see the doctor for an injection. but superwoman me just wanna stay and nua at home, partly because i think i am still energetic. haven die yet. LOL. too boomz, TOO BOOMZ veron. LOL.

anyway,

my XX turned 25 yrs old on 22 October 2012.
he is a quarter century old. ok, that sounds really old.

his wish should consist of a good BTO no, of which, it didnt come true. LOL.

LOL.

as we age, we no longer have fanciful birthday celebrations nor to-die-for presents to get.
even though now that we are working, we have more money to fund such superficial stuff.
superficial in the sense that, oh, its my birthday. i need a party to celebrate. friends, lets all come. -say hello to presents- how many cakes must i cut this yr!!!

i am v ashamed to admit, i used to have that thinking..

HAHAHA.

when i was younger, papa eng will give me a present every yr. and every single yr it was a music playing device, cause i will spoil one every single yr. O.O and they don come cheap, like $200-$300 per MD. i am not sure if anyone used a MD before, it has a music hearing device with square like cassette . i have like 4 of them. mama always says i am a bad child, cause i make papa spend a bomb on such superficial stuff. HAHAHA. then papa eng upgrade to give me a mini ipod. which of course, i spoil it after a yr too.

i am not fated to own such products. in papa eng terms, i am an electronic destroyer. le sigh.

and my birthdays today. are nth fanciful, very simple.

which i am trying to say is, we aged too much. such stuff doesnt matter to us alr.
if i did receive it, its a blessing, at least i am still worth your heart and soul to go search for sth for me.
if not, pls dont get me anything i don need it for. i may smile for the few hours after receiving it cause you spend the time and effort to get me one. but if i have no use for it, i will chuck it one side and money is wasted, i rather you don give me anything.

i dk chuck how many presents one side alr. LOL.
i feel sad for the money spent.

happy and sad to say, i have everything that i wanted. everything extra, is a want.
HAHAHA.

OMG. why on earth did i digress so much saying as if its my birthday?!?!?!

HAHAH.

ok la, fine. my pt is, i didnt go hunt looking for a present for XX. 

all i did was, to pay for our couple photoshoot and i am done with birthday present for 2012. 

LOL.

but hey! its so god bloodily useful, good for future wedding video playback use.

maybe i am just forcing sth that i want into what he wants. HAHAHA.
i always do that. LOL.

photos are everlasting. for good or for the bad. (they are perfect of bullseye gaming when the relationship is called off. HAHAHAHA. feels good to have arrows poking them anywhere to unleash hatred.)

but then again, my money is well spent.

i love my photos and seriously, i may just engaged them again for my wedding shoots before they get famous and rates skyrocketed. HAHAHAHA.

OTD for the day! #SMoochbuffet FTW! i love the white dress i got from the buffet! its a rare colour in my wardrobe cause white makes my wide frame look bigger. LOL. all my colleagues love my dress. HAHAHA.

wanted to try sth new, so i decided to dine in at this restaurant for french food. which turn out to be a bad choice. our first time eating french food and boy, the food turned out to be eww.

although the reviews were all good. but, as a traditional Asian, i decided we should not try too hard and eat sth distinctively different from our diet. the french food doesnt appeal to me at all.

if anything, its eww. LOL. let me emphasize again, its EWW.
and eww not because i got to pay a ridiculous $35 for cake corkage.

Cake corkage: The fee a restaurant charges to cut and serve a cake when you bring the cake to the restaurant yourself. Similar to the corkage fee to open and serve your own bottle of wine.

and i must say, the cake corkage is the most expensive item in mt receipt and they didnt inform me beforehand of such fees. as a form of courtesy, you should have informed me beforehand of the absurd hidden charges. if i choose to proceed, then i will gladly pay, else i would not have given you my cake.

the restaurant didnt even sell cakes. so i brought my own cake and i got charged for the service. LOL. since you didnt sell cakes, so i need a cake of my celebration and i still got charged. for that, i think its ridiculous.

i am amused and angry. i googled and checked. some restaurant do charge for cake corkage. usually becaue the restaurant itself sell cakes. do pls check with the restaurant beforehand if they practice cake corkage before bringing a cake!

but then again, birthday celebrations is a once a yr thing, so i let it go.

the ambience is good though. its a quiet restaurant for a good chat with a mix of opulence and bar-like renovations done. very lush furnishings! i bet they spent a bomb on renovations.

dine in here, you feel like a million bucks.
i can hardly find any bad reviews. i think its really just us who ask accept the taste. LOL.

La Tomate farcie

i am not kidding, but this really make me wanna vomit. the tomato and the green sorbet taste very weird.
in short, i have no idea what is this.

LOL.

and the contents doesnt look very pleasing to the eyes too.


i am having doubts that the reviews say this is very nice. in conclusion, pls take reviews with a pinch of salt.
poor XX finished them all in order not to waste food. LOL. i can see this painful look. HAHAHA.

Vegetable 'nage' , olive oil emulsion, parsnip puree and salmon roe

the cod fish is considered very big and decent for the price paid. HAHA.
but, the sauce taste a little weird and honestly, i cant accept this AGAIN. LOL

and oh buy, the fishy taste is er, I CANNOT TAKE THIS..
the puree is not sweet nor salty, the cream is just plain weird.

there are SO MANY raves for this dish. LOL.

and as usual, XX took my share and we did food exchange!

because XX's fish is roasted fried, so the fish's fishy taste is gone and hence more edible.
and guess what, i didnt see anyone ordering this in reviews!! LOL.

apparently, this is a classic example of, don trust reviews too much. HAHAHA.
what you like may not be what others like.

so after dinner, and after a long chit chatting session, and a smile at the waitress, the waitress came with a cake and tadah!! XX had an epic shocked face. LOL. he didnt know there's still a cake after the dinner.

the forever fail shots that waiter and waitress take for you. LOL. cause the angle taken is wrong.


bought the cake from cake origin, found at the basement of 313 somerset. as the name suggest, you get the original chocolate flavour from the cake. HAHA.

if you are a chocolate lover, pls give the cake a try. its comparable to awfully chocolate.

looks really simple, no glamours decoration what so ever. but the layers of sponge, truffle and fudge will blow your mind. and i am not even a chocolate person cause chocolate gives me pimples and i will be very stress.

i am not a sweet tooth person, so the mild sweet taste appeals to me. this also allow the chocolaty taste to stand out, not overwhelming by the amt of sugar in the cake. wanted to get the dark chocolate cake, but xx is a sweet tooth person, the dark chocolate is probably too bitter for him.

the chocolate origin is alr v v mild in sweetness, so say YEAH!



its dense and heavy with chocolate, rich and moist. its good. and i find it cheap for the quality you get.
for the price you pay, the 6" chocolate cake is packed with awesomeness and goodness.

pls proceed with buying. HAHA.


and it comes with a complimentary cuppa warm lava cake too! cause there is a promotion gg on at 313 somerset that mth.

her voice is so soft, i can hardly hear what she say.

well, free de ma. just take lor. i am a typical Singaporean and a typical ajuma. no, i am not hiding it.
if its not nice, i can always throw it away.


hmm, the warm lava cake is good. moist and warm crust. WOOTZ.
your heart goes woo-la-la with you see the molten-liquid state of chocolate in the cake.

but, i don like the ice cream. its like some cheapo $1 ice cream. LOL.
that being said, i am v particular abt the ice cream i eat, so i shall not comment much.

anything too sweet or creamy is FAIL. so yup, it failed cause it hit the 2 criteria. LOL. HAHAHA.

and so, i ate the chocolate and threw the ice cream before i proceed off and meet my XX.
and stupid XX didnt realise i was carrying a box of cake, cause i had clothes covering the plastic bag. LOL.

post bikram activity part 2.

i was searching for appropriate winter wear clothing for mama out in town.

no, taiwan is not cold. just the normal air con temperature. i am preparing winter wear in advance for my family trip to jiuzhaigou next yr. i dont think shops starting selling winter wear in September yet. there is a need to purchase new ones. cause mama sized up and clothing are not enough. LOL.

i shall spam in Taiwan. winter wears are so pretty!

a bared face full of imperfections. i hate scars. really. why still so many.


i was really famished after bikram class. hey, i burnt too much after each bikram class and that calls for happy food in my stomach. yes?

highly raved and recommended Dean and Deluca at Orchard Central, level 4.
if you haven been here before, kindly make your way there ASAP.
there is a reason behind all the hype. i finally know why.

they serve all day breakfast.
i opt for American country breakfast.

it comprises of Bacons, roasted tomato, 2 thick slices of multi-grain toast, scrambled eggs(!!!), sauteed mushrooms, sausage

the sausage was juicy, although i thought it was a tad salty. then again, sausages are meant to be salty. LOL.
throw the thoughts of the potential high blood pressure aside. HAHAH.

the scrambled eggs are TO.DIE.FOR.
i am not an egg person. truth is, i am survive without eggs. egg is not really part of my diet. thats how much i eat egg. if i buy a box of eggs to cook at home, chances are the eggs are kept all the way till the expiry date and then i throw away. LOL.

but the scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection. HAHAHA.
love the eggs.

my favourite cake; Carrot cake.


PS cafe sells really good carrot cake, cause its moist enough. i think the Dean and Deluca still cant really match PS cafe standard though! a little more moist to the cake's texture would have me gg back very often to feed my dessert craving after every meal. HAHAHAHA.

i am gg to be back for Salted Caramel Bananas and Berries! looks very tempting.

and thats what life is all abt. (:

MGG Gemma blazer in lilac. i mentioned i wont buy it in lilac cause its likely to be a seasonal colour. but seriously  this blazer shade and cutting is too good to miss. i like mgg blazers, even though sometimes i think it doesnt justify the price. but i heart the mid arm sleeves length. appropriate for the Singapore's hot weather.

off we go to kki cafe. its a little cafe situated at ann siang hill. everyone is raving abt this little cafe, i finally succumbed to temptation and followed the crowd and head there that afternoon.

actually ann siang hill has got alot of nice cakes. i shall try them the next time round.




read from somewhere that its the undisputed queen of cakes. cause the cakes are delicate and absolutely divine simple cakes. a truly feast for your eyes with the cakes they are offering in their little cafe. HAHAHA.

ever since he got his iphone 5, he cant survive without his phone now. LOL. seriously, i cant believe he can survive with his old nokia phone that long. everyone is alr moving forward to whatsapp, fb-ing on the go, while he is still at 2G, using SMS. HAHAHAHA.


and now, he is trying to deny the fact that he is slave to his phone after he finally discover why everyone cant survive with their phones now. LOL.

there is a little drom store selling cute looking, unique out of the norm stuff cause they are all vintage. not cheap though!

this tiny little cafe is very cozy. and the owners are very friendly.
lovely place. lovely cakes. lovely ppl.
life simple pleasures.


i randomly said, lets take a photo of your nose hair!! he almost freaked out. HAHAHAH. i am so bored and sick. LOL.


i thought the tiramisu cake is mediocre. HAHAHA. maybe because i have eaten nicer ones. nothing special.



on the other hand, the mont blanc was to die for. ma chiam use a lot of effort to make the cakes. like a little christmas tree!

the outer layer swirl cream is made of chestnut and i swear this little cake is heavenly.
there are 4 layers of different textures/taste in it. sweet cream and soft sponge and a butter cake like base.

its a no wonder this is one of their best sellers.





the cakes are not cheap. but its still worth gg there for a try! at least try once for their mont blanc cake that impressed me!! perhaps there were too many raves for their cakes and the steep prices make us expect much more.  HAHAHA.
